What a magical evening! We hopped in the fur-lined sleigh complete with super thick cozy blankets to snuggle under. Our majestic Finn horse swept us away with the sound of his sleigh bell through snow topped trees in a magical forest complete with a tour around a frozen lake. We stopped in the forest where our guide made a toasty fire, hot coffee and berry juice. We sat and chatted while taking in the stillness of the forest. It was too cloudy to see the Aurealis Borealis but we still had an enchanting evening.

We had an absolutely lovely time on our Finn horse northern light sleigh ride. The guide was very good, telling him about him farm and the tours and life in Lapland. We had an amazing time and enjoyed coffee and biscuits around the fire. The Finn horse was also very lovely and a very unique experience worth doing even if you don’t see the northern light it’s definitely worth an evening trip. Also the blankets in the sleigh are lovely and keep you nice and toasty but it’s definitely still worth wrapping up very warm in your winter snow suits.

We had a wonderful time there. Starting with a cozy sleigh ride with huge but lovely finn horses to the family farm. It is a small and lovely place, all the animals are local breeds and are nice to interact with. The family also offers information about the animals, their habits and how they are used in their family's daily life. Then we also had a cup of hot beverage in a cozy hut at a campfire, along with a nice chat about the farm, their lifestyle and culture in Finland. It's definitely worth the experience and a lovely time worth spending there. If we ever get back to Lapland, we will definitely come back for a visit. Meanwhile, we are happy to follow them in Instagram 🙂

Our experience with Ranuan Hevospalvelut - Ranua Horse Adventures - was nothing short of exceptional. We booked the Sleigh Ride to Family Farm Experience, expecting a charming outing, but it turned into an unforgettable adventure that surpassed all our hopes.

From the very beginning, we were captivated. The owner, Köpi, made a grand and dramatic entrance at the Ranua resort with Sofi, a stunning Finnish horse, gracefully pulling an ancient sleigh draped in luxurious reindeer skins. It was a spectacle that caught everyone’s attention and set the tone for an enchanting journey.

Upon arriving at the family farm, we were warmly welcomed by Köpi’s wife, Tike, and their delightful dog, Häla. The family’s love for their animals and each other was evident at every turn. They proudly introduced us to their beloved animals—majestic horses, lovely sheep, gentle cows, and pretty chickens—all of whom reflected the family’s kindness and care.

What made this experience so unique was its authenticity. We were given a rare and intimate glimpse into the life of a Finnish farming family, filled with creativity, passion, and a deep connection to their animals and heritage. It wasn’t just a tour—it was a journey into a way of life, brimming with warmth and inspiration.

This exclusive and heartwarming adventure is truly a hidden gem and a must for anyone visiting Ranua. We are immensely grateful to Köpi, Tike, and their family for sharing their world with us. Thank you for a magical and unforgettable experience!

We did the 2hr finnhorse experience. What an amazing evening! A magical sleigh ride into the forest. Then we all sat around the camp fire drinking freshly made coffee, finding out about the owner and Finnish life. We didn't see the lights as it was snowing but that didn't matter one bit as the people we were with, and the whole experience, was just an evening we will never forget. Just magical!!

A lovely experience. We went by snowmobile to the farm and was met by the owner and his eldest daughter who showed us around the farm and all the animals. All the animals had names. He took us to a teepee style tent where there was a lovely wood fire and gave us hot berry drink to warm us up. He was very happy to answer any questions about the farm or his family life, and was very pleasant and friendly.
The next night we met him and his wife to go on one of the Finnish horse drawn sleigh rides to find the northern lights. We didn't find any as it was snowing but that didn't matter as they provide nice thick blankets to keep us warm and stop half way to light a fire, melt some snow and make some welcome coffee and berry juice, before continuing. It was a lovely ride through the forest and our host had lots of interesting stories to listen to around the camp fire.
They really are a lovely couple and work hard in general and to make our experience extra special.. I wish them all the best.

Absolutely magical evening spent with lovely people. The host and his family are so passionate about there living and Finland. Spent time meeting all the animals including the puppy 🐶, then had coffee in the yurt. Gave us a heads up where to go n see the lights the following evening. And we saw them. Thankyou so much to you and your family for your hospitality ❤️.
