Lääkärit ja hoitajat ovat ystävällisiä ja ottavat asioista selvää jos eivät tiedä. Paikka on siisti ja mukava käydä. Myös turvallinen näin korona aikaan. Ainut miinus että omistaja ei pääse lemmikkinsä kanssa hoitohuoneeseen. Varsinkin kun on kyseessä pentukoira.

In short: I brought in a cat in a bad condition. Evidensia vet Santa Rakecka recommended a treatment but underscored that we better put the cat down. This treatment would have most probably indeed resulted in the cat's death. Fortunately, with the help of Google and another vet we found another treatment and the cat is now on the path to full recovery.

Full story: The cat was a rescue, very thin, dehydrated and with a severe ear mites infection. She was so weak she could neither eat nor drink. The prescribed treatment was antibiotics in a solution and cortisone, both orally administered. Giving a cat an oral suspension is always a fight and importantly it is never known how much she swallowed and how much was spat out. I have asked for an injection form, but was told it was illegal in Finland for the vets to prescribe injections. We gave the prescribed drugs, but the cat still refused to both eat and drink. Then ourselves we found out that a subcutaneous injection of glucose sloution can give a cat enough energy to start eating and drinking and also it can help with dehydration. We went to another vet and got a confirmation of that treatment, we also obtained the same antibiotics in injection form. After the glucose injection the cat first fell asleep and then started eating, giving subcutaneous injections of antibiotics is easy compared to oral, the cat barely notices it. I'm quite sure that if we didn't start on glucose the cat would not have started eating and would have been now dead. Also the infection treatment would have been much less efficient with oral suspension.
